What it means

For a call, required equity is call amount divided by pot after the opponent's bet plus your call.

AT THE TABLE

A practical example

The pot is 100, an opponent bets 50, and calling 50 requires 25% equity before other factors.

The calculation

Required equity to call = call amount ÷ (pot before the bet + opponent bet + your call).

The example above shows the idea with stated assumptions. Actual decisions also depend on ranges, future action, and the game format.

A common misconception

The price of a call does not tell you your actual chance of winning; estimate equity separately.

Where you will hear it

Texas Hold’em, Omaha where applicable. The exact usage can vary with rules and context.
